Sad shame this whole thing. Onemansgoal kept going down hill after Marc paid 10k for it. To the point where the domain is now just parked up. I bet that kid wants his 10 k back now. We all knew it was coming, that site had no organic traffic. It was always going to be hard work to keep it going...this is the problem with social media blogs that think that ebcause they get a few hits from stumbleupon that they have a good site. A site isn't worth anything until it get organic traffic from Google...and lots of it!

Great interview Emma. I enjoyed it quite a bit, and it's nice to hear Marc is positive even in the face of some negativity. As for fair value, getting scammed, etc. it seems to me that any time a transaction takes place, other people will offer their opinions. Some people think it's crazy to spend 100k on a sports car, others see no issue with it at all. As long as Marc and and Bryan are pleased with the terms of the deal, that's all that matters!

There are an unbelievably infinite number of extremely catchy domain names that are still unregistered, for those who are willing to take the time to develop 100's of permutations of what they want, then do a multiple domain search to see what's available.

I use a spreadsheet as a domain-name permutator to do this. Works like a dream, and I come up with far better names than 99% of domain names that cost well over $2000.

I'd really like to see Marc do well with his blog, even though I've been fairly critical.

I don't know if the deal was a "scam", but I think it was over priced. Not rehashing the topic, but just take a look at OMG stats for April. Its not horrible, but damn, paying $10,000+ for that? With that much cash to spend, you could get a new site to the same level as OMG quick.

Wow, that would have been a great idea... faking all of this for the publicity. It has certainly helped Marc a ton.

Great interview and I wish Marc luck with the blog. He seems to be doing pretty well for just now getting his feet wet, and I'm pretty sure it's just the beginning for him.

Whether people want to believe I'm a scammer, or not, it's ok with me because it acted as a great springboard for Marc to build a new audience, and obtain some links in the process. Although I disagree that he got scammed, and obviously some others feel the same, it's a nasty world if you live in the MMO niche.

Keep up the good work Emma, I'll have to come check out some more of your posts when I get some time!

Forest that is a great catch! Being a huge Lost fan myself I'm surprised I didn't catch on to it hehe :)

Yan it certainly would be very clever of Bryan if he didn't actually go with the sale and it's a big publicity stunt, wouldn't it? But with Marcs video posts and lack-of Bryan posts at OMG I doubt it ;)
